Many of U know me from my Intimate Musings. Here lately, I've been drawn to and completely moved by the interaction between Fathers and Children. I have been savoring the book The Bond. I should be finished with it, since I generally whiz through a book of its length. I borrowed it from the NYPL in December and keep renewing it because I am reading it slowly ... I don't want it to end. I have cried several times (& I'm not generally a softee:-) -- it is an extremely powerful book. Once I'm done with my borrowed copy, I must purchase one to add to my personal library. Thanx to that book I'm moved to start yet another blog. But, I hope to get your help and input on this one;-)I am a proud Daddy's Girl - who is blessed to be best friends with my Dad to this day! I used to take it for granted - I mean, I knew a few friends growing up who didn't know theirs, but I didn't really understand what that meant for them. As this "epidemic" of fatherless-ness has been promoted as an "acceptable" norm I've come to learn the affect it is having on us all.
A funny thing that happened for me as I read about these Brothers coming to terms with their relationships with their fathers -- is I began to see that Females need or can write a similar story when we have been detached (emotionally or actually) from our Mothers. Then, I began to see it even wider regarding rebuilding relationships with anyone in your close family who you may have felt was a "lost cause".
So I'm going to try something new. I invite you -- all readers -- to join me in writing POSITIVE stories about making peace with your RELATIVES (parents, siblings, "steps", "halfs", etc.). Feel free to change names if you think those persons need to be protected. But, I have read and witnessed too many sob-stories which the mainstream media seems to thrive on. I need LOVE & PEACE to thrive and hope you will join me in this Blog-speriment. Also, feel free to just simply post an image that evokes HOPE, LOVE & Rebuilding. If you are interested in contributing to this effort - please leave your email in the comment area and I'll send you an invitation to become a contributor who can write as the spirit moves you. I DO reserve the right to edit and/or delete a story that is offensive and/or negative without any redeeming outcome. I know that life has rough edges, but I'd like for this blog to be an uplifting oasis.
Thanx for joining me in this effort to CapTure & promote love ... enough to rebuild!

I love this idea and being a total product of family, I definitely have many stories I'd love to share. My father is deceased and has been since I was 9 years old but his influence on my life has been profound. I would love to re-post here a post I wrote on my blog a couple years ago. Contact info for me is sharon2172@aol.com.
Once again, I love this concept and the stories that have been shared so far...
